Koko-Peli, the flute player, has been found in the
Anasazi Rock Art of the American Southwest.
The legends of the native people tell us
that when the Kokopeli comes playing his flute,
the sun comes out, the snow melts,
the green grass grows
and the birds come out and begin to sing.
His purpose was known to some as storyteller,
teacher, healer, and even trickster.
He has also been credited as being
the original journalist. His image depicted
in rock art throughout the southwest indicates he was
possibly a traveler who played his flute to make his
presence known prior to approaching the villages.
